So my views of the Slide2Learn Conference:
This was a great conference as
• It was hosted in a school [Shepparton HS] where the the introduction of the iPod Touch three years ago has made such a great difference to teaching and learning.
• All the sessions were taken by practicing teachers [ or educational consultants who work closely with teachers]
• All these teachers had looked at the capabilities of the iPod Touch and how it could be incorporated into their teaching to do something no other technology had done before. To do this they had all had to overcome organisational, pedagogical and technical issues.
• Therefore there was great sharing on the strategies, policies and practices involved in introducing mobile learning into a school, expanding the school's eLearning vision, dealing with all the stakeholders, solving the technical issues [ connectivity, synching etc], organising teacher PD, convincing parents and the community. And then finally using it as a teaching tool!
• There was also a great sharing of experiences with the 100 participants along the way and there will be continuing networking though the Conference Ning and personal compacts made.
• Hopefully this will not be the last Slide2Learn Conference. Well done guys!
