As part of the ACCE study tour, we had a group dinner at Patsy's NYC to hear a keynote from Gary Stager. His keynote was what a good keynote should be, a conversation and debate starter amongst the group.
Here Gary "talked the talk", so I was interested in him " walk the walk" when I got to Philadelphia for ISTE '11
Spent the Sunday with Gary Stager and Sylvia Martinez at the 5th Constructivist Celebration at Maggiano's, Philadelphia .
After Gary's keynote were were give a disk of software from Tech4Learning. I have never seen this software before, With the tools of Frame, Image Blender, Pixie, Twist and Share we had the rest of the day to complete a task on constructivism.
I focused on Share, which is a great tool. Here are some tutorials and some projects. There are links to rubric maker and graphic organiser maker
The great thing about share is that you can export as an interactive pdf Download ISTE 2011 or Flash file which you can update to a website.
So the value of the day? Got to talk and network with some teachers from the USA who were on my table, Gary's keynote, wind up chat with Gary and Will Richardson and great lunch. I thought the workshop bit needed more direction pedagogically. There was plenty of Tech Support from Tech4Learning, plenty of sandpit time and sharetime at the end. It was, I felt lacking in curriculum application and how this software explicitly fitted in with the software. I'm still glad I went though, just a little disappointed.
